Los Angeles became a flashpoint of national attention as protests escalated in response to ICE raids targeting immigrant neighborhoods. The raids, carried out early morning, led to dozens of arrests and triggered widespread fear among minority communities.

By evening, thousands gathered downtown to protest. The situation intensified as police deployed tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse crowds. Journalists on the scene reported clashes, while city officials issued a mandatory curfew across affected areas.

Authorities have deployed National Guard units and enforced roadblocks. Protesters are demanding a halt to ICE operations and a full investigation into the use of force by law enforcement.

Civil rights groups have condemned the actions, stating the government is “weaponizing immigration enforcement.” Online platforms saw hashtags like #NoICE and #DefendImmigrants trending globally.

The protests have spilled into other cities, raising concerns of a nationwide wave of civil unrest ahead of the upcoming U.S. elections.
