US-Iran Nuclear Talks Postponed Amid Tensions

The fourth round of indirect nuclear talks between the United States and Iran has been postponed amid ongoing tensions between the two nations. The discussions, which were expected to take place soon, were delayed without a new date being announced. The talks aim to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which the U.S. withdrew from in 2018 under the Trump administration. Since then, Iran has gradually rolled back its compliance with the agreement, increasing uranium enrichment levels.  

Efforts to restore the deal have faced repeated obstacles, with both sides accusing each other of making excessive demands. The U.S. has called on Iran to scale back its nuclear activities, while Tehran insists that Washington must first lift economic sanctions. The postponement comes as regional tensions remain high, particularly over Iran’s military cooperation with Russia and its involvement with proxy groups in the Middle East.  

European mediators have been facilitating the indirect negotiations, but progress has been slow. Analysts suggest that domestic political pressures in both countries, along with broader geopolitical conflicts, have further complicated the diplomatic process. The delay raises concerns about the diminishing prospects of reviving the nuclear deal, with potential implications for regional stability and global non-proliferation efforts.
